It's not too early to plan ahead for SLRP 2011. Iowa Arts Council funding applications opened July 1 for EZ1-2-3 Grants for 2011 and because I am on the IAC TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER you may make application for Patchwork Puppet shows and/or tours through this grant. It's a fairly simple form, but don't wait. This money is depleted quickly.
Next summer I'll be doing a program, PUPPETS AROUND THE STORY WORLD, a literacy/library program of puppet-telling which features tales about how our stories came to use - How Anansi Brought the Stories Down (African), The Revenge of the Story Spirits ( Far Eastern), and Tales of 1001 Nights (Middle Eastern). The presentation includes opportunities with puppets, costumes, instruments, props, and chants. OH, WHAT TALES WE'LL TELL.
The fees are the same as this year. E-mail me for lodging and travel information. The grants will match up to $500 of cash expenses I'd be happy to help you with the process but the application has to come from you.
